Sint Eustatius has many problems with teenage girls. These girls suffer from little self-confidence, school dropout and sometimes also sexual abuse. Because they are sexually active at a young age, teenage pregnancies are common. The Samenwerkende Fondsen Cariben supported a foundation that helps girls between the ages of 8 and 15 to gain the confidence and resilience they need. In counseling and mentoring sessions, the girls are confronted with the consequences of their behavior and discuss alternatives. The parents also receive information and advice so that they can further guide the girls at home.
